Beyond academic competitions, Olympiads School (Meritus Academy) helped me develop a mindset that has paid dividends for my post-secondary education and well into my working career. Grappling with difficult problems can be discouraging, especially when the material can seem effortless for your peers. But by fostering an environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, identify areas for improvement without judgment, and deliberately practice in well-curated mock exam routines, Olympiads School has made many intimidating subjects accessible to me. A hallmark of any good education program is not just teaching the material, but also teaching students how to learn.

I initially joined Olympiads School (now Meritus Academy) as a Grade 8 student to get ahead in Grade 10 math. I never imagined that they would soon help me find my passion for physics and engineering to later represent Canada in the International Young Physicists’ Tournament! The classes and teachers here are the most supportive and engaging I have ever seen anywhere. I was pushed to strive for more in subjects that I had a prior interest in such as math and physics and I was actively engaged in subjects in which I was weaker in such as French and English. They helped me plan my high school academics, extracurriculars, and apply for universities. I owe my success and achievements to the support I received at Olympiads School and recommend it to anyone at any stage and academic level in school!

I’ve been going to Olympiads School (Meritus Academy) since 5th grade, and because I took so many classes, it became like a second home to me. Not only did the well-organized curriculum and supportive teachers help me academically excel, but I also made friends in class with people who later attended the same high school. The sense of community and support was something I grew to treasure, and it made my academic journey more fulfilling and also far less daunting.

During my time at Olympiads (Meritus), I’ve gotten to know a few teachers who put deep care into their teaching. In my debate classes, the instructors cared about my growth, balancing honest and personalized constructive criticism while building my confidence. Additionally, the principal genuinely listens to students and parents, doing his best to implement their feedback. Olympiads (Meritus) also ensures they’re teaching up-to-date content and encourages students to understand the “why” behind what they learn.
